LuM Lighting Design collaborated with the Dallas office of architect, Perkins&Will (formerly Lauckgroup), to design a custom space for WiNGS, Women in Need of Generous Support (formerly YWCA), a Dallas-based nonprofit dedicated to providing Dallas women and their families with a path to better life through financial management classes, micro-enterprise coaching, and women's health assistance. Moved by WiNGS mission, the Design Team offered at-cost materials sourcing and pro-bono programming and design services for the organization when it declared its plans to move to a larger space. Transforming the 18,400-SF space into one that felt familiar and comfortable was a key deliverable, as the staff wanted clients to feel safe and heard. Placing a fireplace in the resource center, creating coaching rooms that evoked the feeling of a sitting room, and designing a treehouse-inspired childcare area all accomplished this. The Team’s thoughtful approach resulted in a space that reflected the nonprofit's mission to help women realize their limitless room for potential.
